I was struggling with anxiety for years, and this year was finally diagnosed with panic disorder with agoraphobia. I understand what your friend is going on is a terrible mess. I tried different medications (antidepressants such as Zoloft and Lexapro Cymbalta different, and benzodiazepines like Xanax and Xanax XR) and has worked to some extent, but do not get to causing anxiety, when you stop, you start to panic symptoms anxiety / again. I was subject to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and is a gift from God, really. It was very difficult at first, because the treatment you cope with your thoughts (cognition) and actions (behavior) to meet and determine the cause of their anxiety and how their reactions are in fact reinforce anxiety rather than better. Then work to change their thoughts and behaviors and eliminate anxiety. Slowly but surely it works, and I'm getting better every day, without any medication. I recommend it to anyone that CBT has panic and anxiety – Is hard work and symptoms, but the results are simply changed my life. Good luck to both!
